I was back on the bike again today (thanks to some immodium) for a great, but very hot, day of cycling.
The restaurant near the hotel wasn't able to offer us breakfast early enough, so we started by cycling into the nearby town for a dosa.
After that we headed for the main climb of the day. Thankfully this was at a steep but doable gradient and we enjoyed the ascent. The descent was much more fun though, as it was on a good surface with good visibility and little traffic, so we could take it nice and fast.
Most of the rest of the day was along undulating roads with plenty of ups and downs to keep us busy. We cycled past pineapple fields, rubber plantations, and finally vast paddy fields of rice.
Today's last section brought us into Kerala's famous backwaters, where dozens (hundreds?) of rivers and channels criss cross and interlink to form a massive network of waterways.
Once we'd settled in to the hotel and showered we went on a two hour boat cruise around some of the local area. We passed lots of other boats on the way, including the houseboats that this area is known for, and a few very busy water buses.
