Ride Stats
Another great day in terms of scenery, and another hard day of climbing on the bikes. It felt like the longest 30 mile bike ride I've ever done!
Today's ride took us up and down the undulating hills of Kerala’s famous tea plantations. It was a great backdrop to the ride, even if the air pollution haze meant we didn't get the picture postcard views that the region is known for.
There was lots of climbing, which meant things went pretty slowly. I'm sure that if Ewan was on his own he could've gone much faster, but we made it in the end! There were plenty of descents today too. Ewan took them pretty confidently, but I was a bit more cautious. You never know what you're going to meet round the next corner here, or whether the smooth tarmac you're riding on will suddenly change to loose rocks and dirt.
We're staying on a tea plantation tonight. Ewan took the opportunity to do a little kayaking, while I went for a stroll around the tea fields. There was a viewpoint at the top of the suggested walking route but, again, there was too much haze to see anything very much.
